A Chinese cancer genomics company in Guangzhou that makes tumour sequencing tests and the OverC blood test for several cancers.
Burning Rock Biotech, whose principal office is on Guangzhou's International Bio Island, files annual reports with the US SEC. Its 2025 annual report says it commercially launched its first cancer therapy selection test in 2014 and describes OverC, its multi-cancer detection blood test, as holding Breakthrough Device designations from the FDA (January 2023) and NMPA (October 2023) and being commercialised with a small number of pilot hospitals in China, with a second-generation test for up to 22 cancer types at an early stage.
Burning Rock's methylation blood test from China for five or six cancers, with Breakthrough designations from the US and Chinese regulators but no approval yet.
Supports the design choice of most current tests: methylation first, with proteins as an add-on rather than mutations.
The strongest published evidence for OverC, still from people already diagnosed with cancer rather than a screening population.
