Ottimo Pharma is testing a single antibody that both releases an immune brake (PD-1) and blocks a growth signal tumours use to build blood vessels (VEGFR2). It began its first human trial in the United States and Australia in early 2026.
Ottimo Pharma is a UK-registered company co-founded by Medicxi and Jonny Finlay that emerged from stealth in October 2024 under chief executive David Epstein. Its lead, jankistomig (OTP-01), is an Fc-null IgG1 antibody with a dual-paratopic design that engages the PD-1 immune checkpoint and the VEGFR2 angiogenic receptor in one conventional antibody. The FDA cleared its IND, and on 7 January 2026 the company reported the first patient dosed in a phase 1/2a open-label adaptive study in the US and Australia, initially enrolling patients with cancers known to benefit from PD-1 or VEGF treatment. In December 2024 it raised more than USD 140 million in a Series A led by OrbiMed, Avoro Capital and Samsara BioCapital.
