EpiBiologics makes two-armed antibodies that drag a harmful protein on the outside of a cell into the cell's own disposal system, so the protein is destroyed rather than just blocked. Its first medicine, EPI-326, is being tested in lung and head and neck cancers driven by EGFR.
EpiBiologics, headquartered in San Mateo in the San Francisco Bay Area, was founded on work by its scientific founder Jim Wells at the University of California, San Francisco. Its EpiTAC platform is a modular bispecific antibody system that pairs a target with one of more than 270 degradation-inducing cell-surface receptors, so that membrane and soluble proteins are degraded in a tissue-selective way. The lead programme EPI-326 is an EGFR-degrading bispecific antibody; the company has also presented data on a c-Met degrading bispecific. In January 2026 it closed a USD 107 million Series B co-led by GV and Johnson & Johnson Innovation (JJDC), with Novartis Venture Fund, Aulis Capital, Avego BioScience Capital and Samsara BioCapital joining and existing investors including Polaris Partners participating. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT07462377, a first-in-human phase 1 study of EPI-326 in EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in March 2026, and the company announced its first patient dosed in April 2026.
