Cosomil makes a blood test that measures the activity of single enzyme molecules, aimed at finding pancreatic cancer early. The test is being studied in about 10,000 people having routine health checks in Japan.
Cosomil, Inc. (Kosomiru Kabushiki Kaisha), founded on 1 April 2022 according to the company and based at the University of Tokyo Entrepreneur Plaza in Bunkyo, Tokyo, is a University of Tokyo spin-out developing a single-molecule enzyme activity-based liquid biopsy. Its Enzeavour Pancreatic Cancer assay quantifies the activity of three enzymes and combines four derived biomarkers into a score. The company reports that clinical testing services began in July 2025 through the laboratory company BML, that it holds a Japanese in vitro diagnostic marketing authorisation holder licence, and that it has consulted the US FDA. A nationwide single-arm feasibility study in Japan (NCT07605819) plans to enrol about 10,000 asymptomatic adults at health checks, with the pancreatic cancer detection rate within 12 months as primary outcome. It closed a pre-Series A round in November 2023 and a Series A1 round in February 2026 led by Delight Ventures. Its first registered cancer study, NCT07605819, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in May 2026.
