Imagion Biosystems makes an MRI contrast agent of tiny magnetic particles that stick to a cancer marker, so a scan can show whether HER2-positive breast cancer has spread to the lymph nodes without a biopsy.
Imagion Biosystems, Ltd., registered at Bourke Street, Melbourne, with a US subsidiary, Imagion Biosystems, Inc., in Incline Village, Nevada, develops MagSense molecular MRI: bio-safe magnetic nanoparticles linked to targeting molecules that bind cancer biomarkers. Its lead agent, the MagSense HER2 Imaging Agent (MSH2IA), completed a multi-site phase 1 study (enrolment closed in July 2023) in HER2-positive breast cancer to assess spread to axillary lymph nodes, and the company says it detects tumour signals as small as 1 to 2 mm; a folate receptor agent for ovarian cancer is preclinical. The company identifies itself as IBX and publishes ASX announcements. Its first registered cancer trial on ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT07885683, a phase 1b/2 study of MSH2IA with MRI in HER2-positive breast cancer, was posted in October 2026; no earlier study is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov under this sponsor name.
