CRISM Therapeutics makes ChemoSeed, small dissolving implants that release chemotherapy slowly into the tissue left behind after a brain tumour is removed. Its first trial is in people having surgery for glioblastoma in the UK.
CRISM Therapeutics Corporation (AIM: CRTX) is a UK clinical-stage drug delivery company with a team based in Birmingham, a UK address in Londonderry and a registered office in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Its ChemoSeed technology, developed by chief scientific officer Professor Chris McConville, is a cylinder of biodegradable polymer such as PLGA loaded with up to four chemotherapy drugs, implanted directly into a tumour or into the resection margin after surgery so that the drug diffuses into residual tumour tissue. The lead product, irinotecan-ChemoSeed, received MHRA approval and a favourable research ethics opinion in September 2025 for an open-label phase 2 trial in patients with surgically resectable glioblastoma at UK sites, planned to start in the first quarter of 2026. The company names pancreatic, prostate, bladder and breast cancers as possible future indications and also offers formulation services. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT07356973, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in January 2026.
