Continuity Biosciences builds small implanted devices that push chemotherapy straight into a tumour with a mild electric current, aiming for more drug in the cancer and less in the rest of the body; its first trial is in pancreatic cancer.
Continuity Biosciences, LLC launched in November 2024 (release datelined Bradenton, Florida and Houston) to develop drug-delivery platforms licensed from Houston Methodist Hospital, founded by Alessandro Grattoni, Ramakrishna Venugopalan and Robert Whitehead. In oncology its implantable iontophoretic system uses a mild electrical current to deliver chemotherapy directly into tumour tissue, with programmes in pancreatic and oral cavity cancer, and a nanofluidic drug-eluting seed is being developed for breast cancer; other platforms address type 1 diabetes, HIV prevention and medical aesthetics. In June 2025 it acquired Focal Medical to advance targeted drug delivery for pancreatic cancer. A first-in-human phase 1 study tests the implantable iontophoresis device delivering gemcitabine weekly or twice weekly in pancreatic cancer (NCT07481383). Its first registered cancer trial, NCT07481383, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in March 2026.
