Checkpoint Therapeutics developed cosibelimab, an anti-PD-L1 antibody approved by the FDA in December 2024 for advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, and became part of Sun Pharma in May 2025.
Checkpoint Therapeutics, a Massachusetts company founded within Fortress Biotech, developed cosibelimab (Unloxcyt), an anti-PD-L1 antibody with an intact Fc region designed to add antibody-dependent cell killing to checkpoint blockade. The FDA approved it in December 2024 for metastatic or locally advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma not curable by surgery or radiation, after an earlier complete response letter over a manufacturing site. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries completed its acquisition of the company on 30 May 2025, paying USD 4.10 a share in cash plus a contingent value right worth up to USD 0.70 a share, and Checkpoint continues as a wholly owned Sun Pharma subsidiary. Company facts are from the official website, FDA approval records and Checkpoint's closing filing with the SEC.
