BrainChild Bio develops CAR-T cell therapies for brain tumours, starting with children. Its lead treatment, for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, a brainstem tumour of childhood, entered a phase 2 trial in 2026 intended to support an application for approval.
BrainChild Bio, with offices in Seattle and Cambridge, Massachusetts, is a clinical-stage company developing CAR-T therapies for tumours of the central nervous system, built on technology developed at Seattle Children's and exclusively licensed to the company in December 2023. On 8 September 2026 it announced a USD 116 million Series A led by an undisclosed private family fund and foundation, with Seattle Children's, its initial investor, and WRF Capital.
Most of the money goes to ILLUMINATE (NCT07680439), a pivotal phase 2 trial of BCB-276, an autologous B7-H3-targeted CAR-T for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), designed to support a future Biologics License Application to the FDA. The financing also supports BCB-214, a triple-targeting CAR-T being advanced to initial clinical testing in glioblastoma, and further paediatric and adult brain tumour programmes, including brain metastases.
