## TL;DR

Takeda co-owns Adcetris outside the US and is developing STING-agonist conjugates; in October 2025 it stopped its own cell therapy work.

## Summary

Takeda, based in Tokyo and listed as 4502.T, co-owns Adcetris, or brentuximab vedotin, outside the United States and is developing STING-agonist antibody conjugates. In October 2025 it announced that it would discontinue its cell therapy efforts, a field in which it had worked on cord-blood CAR-NK cells with MD Anderson, and seek an outside partner for its cell therapy platforms. Its oncology portfolio also includes bortezomib, brigatinib, fruquintinib and anagrelide, while mobocertinib was withdrawn, and TAK-500 is its STING immune-stimulating antibody conjugate. OnCo links it to the ECHELON-1 paper, in which brentuximab vedotin replaced bleomycin in first-line Hodgkin lymphoma chemotherapy, to Hutchmed and Innovent as partners, and to Takeda Ventures. Whether its narrower focus on small molecules, biologics and antibody-drug conjugates produces new cancer medicines is the open question. Brentuximab vedotin has its own page.

## Notes

- Checked 29 October 2026: Takeda's release 'Takeda Provides Update on Cell Therapy Research', filed with the SEC on 1 October 2025, says it decided to discontinue its cell therapy efforts and will seek an external partner for its cell therapy platforms, with an impairment of about 58.0 billion yen. Whether the MD Anderson CAR-NK programme found a new owner was not confirmed. A licence of two Innovent cancer drugs (IBI363 and IBI343) was reported in trade press in late 2025 but not read in a Takeda source here. Other 2026 events were not swept; the web search budget ran out.
