## TL;DR

Spatial proteomics (PhenoCycler, PhenoImager) used to map immune cells in tumours; acquired by Quanterix in July 2025.

## Summary

Akoya Biosciences, based in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and formerly listed as AKYA, makes spatial proteomics instruments, PhenoCycler and PhenoImager, used to map immune cells in tumours, and it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Quanterix on 8 July 2025. Its multiplex immunofluorescence runs at scale, and clinical partnerships aim at spatial signatures that predict immunotherapy response. OnCo links it to spatial biology instruments. Whether a spatial immune signature can be validated as a companion diagnostic for immunotherapy, which is the promise behind the whole sector, is the open question. The spatial biology instruments page carries the wider field.

## Notes

- Checked 29 October 2026 against Quanterix's quarterly report for the period ended 30 September 2025 (SEC), which states the Akoya Closing Date as 8 July 2025 and Akoya surviving as a wholly owned subsidiary. akoyabio.com now redirects to quanterix.com, where the PhenoCycler and PhenoImager instruments are sold under the Akoya name, so the website field points to the acquirer.
